Rediscover America
The Rediscover America program has developed and assisted more than 2,000 local projects to preserve and revitalize local heritage, culture and historical sites including the Annapolis, Maryland, Market; Historic Charleston, South Carolina; the Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee; the Mohawk Crafts Fund in New York; the Pint Firmin Lighthouse Historical Marine Park and Museum in California; the Old Mill festival in Ohio and the Princeton Recollector local history magazine in New Jersey.
Peter Jemison, one of the founders of the Mohawk Crafts Fund in Malone, NY, shows one of the traditional Iroquois baskets revived by the Six Nations of the Iroquois with a grant from America the Beautiful Fund.
