1999
The Rally Across America
In 1999, the Rally Across America was launched with support from Doral & Co. to preserve and protect the places and things that make hometowns special all across America.

Community Restoration projects were accomplished in the following places:
- Mini-Graceland-Roanoke, VA, a mini replica of Graceland, Elvis’ home in Tupelo, Mississippi and Heartbreak Hotel received 8,000 bulbs for use as fundraisers and to beautify the site through the efforts of the Salem Men’s Gardening Club.
- Eufaula Heritage Association-Eufaula, AL, a restoration of antebellum homes received a $1,000 grant for home restoration and 5000 bulbs to create Millennium Tour Gardens.
- Mars Historical Society, Mars, PA, a 100 year old train depot was relocated to downtown Mars to serve as a firemen’s memorial and display of community artifacts. They received a $1,000 grant for laying a new depot foundation.
Cheyenne City Park-Cheyenne, OK, a community park, which includes a century-old one-room schoolhouse and old train depot used as a museum, received a $1,000 grant for instant exhibit cases and 8,000 bulbs to plant around historic buildings. - USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial-Sioux Falls, SD, a concrete outline of the World War II decorated battleship and World War II museum received a $1,000 grant for a museum addition and 2,000 bulbs to create a living “American Spirit” Garden.
- Bateaux Below-Wilton, NY, a shipwreck site of the Sunken Fleet of 1758 received a $469 grant for clean up and stabilization of the underwater shipwreck.
- Eden Preservation Society-Eden, NC, the Morehead Memorial Park/Charlie Poole Pavilion received a $500
grant for purchasing trees and shrubbery and 6,000 bulbs to beautify the park. - Chandler Park-Tulsa, OK, has a 40 year old 190-foot long “Mound” which serves as a outdoor stage for theatrical production and received a $500 grant for repairing and improving the Mound and 10,000 bulbs to beautify park.
